Bungee Program

Posted on 28 Apr 2017

In term one members of Belconnen Community Service (BCS) visited our school to coordinate the Bungee Art Program.

The program uses art as a medium for expression and is designed to build resilience and promote emotional wellbeing.

The students had a great time working on various art projects including: badges, expressive drawings, paintings, paper mache and masks.  Throughout the program we witnessed confidence grow and a deeper understanding develop that art can be a healthy way to express how we are feeling.

We are anticipating having two more groups this term and are eager to get started and have a great time.

During National Youth Week, we were proud that some of our student’s artworks were displayed at the Belconnen Community Centre over the school holidays as part of an exhibition.

BCS runs many community groups for all ages including after school activities, family information sessions and parenting programs.

If you would like any more information please see our Youth Support Workers or visit the BCS website:

Peter Garett talking to kindergarten students

We were very excited to receive a visit from The Hon. Minister Peter Garrett MP and the ACT Education and Training Minister Joy Burch MLA.  They were both impressed at the visual impact and design of our school. Minister Garrett was particularly impressed with our strong growth in student achievement.

Both Ministers were here to launch new national funding initiatives in the form of National Partnerships for schools like ours. Minister Garrett and Minister Burch even dropped in and had a chat with Ms Vicol's kinder class. They look like they were having fun!
