ENGLISH is that area of the curriculum where students learn about the language and structure of literacy, mass media and everyday texts.  These texts may be written, spoken or visual.  In addition to studying these texts, they have opportunities to create their own.  In English there is a special emphasis upon language development in order to equip students with the necessary literacy skills to meet the demands of life in an advanced technological and democratic society.

MATHEMATICS: Students learn to demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding whilst working mathematically in Space (3D shapes, direction); Number (calculations using the four operations); Measurement (time, length, mass); Chance and Data (graphs, surveys).

SCIENCE aims to develop students’ understanding of the physical and biological world through the scientific processes of observation, forming and testing hypotheses, information gathering, data interpretation, and the effective communication of findings.

STUDIES OF SOCIETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT (SOSE)  is the study of the relationship between society and the environment in Australia and other countries both past and present.  The study of society involves the interactions and relationships between people and the study of the environment looks at natural and social surroundings.

TECHNOLOGY involves the practical application of a wide range of resources to design, make, use and appraise products and processes to meet human needs.

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION promotes understanding of physical activity and movement, food and nutrition, health, safety, human development, human relations and our gymnastics program.  Within this context the area examines personal action and beliefs, attitudes and values held by families, cultural groups and the wider community.

THE ARTS: Students develop skills in making and presenting the art forms; dance, drama, media, music and visual art in order to communicate to others things that matter in their personal world and beyond.  In doing this students develop skills in critically appreciating art forms and understanding how art forms develop within historical and social contexts.
